IPL 2017 Auction: Top 5 Sold Players and top 5 Unluckiest Unsold Players

Place – Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Bengaluru. VIVO IPL Auction 2017 , total 66 players were sold from the list of 352 players for 10th edition of the IPL tournament. Ben Stokes became the most expensive overseas buy in IPL, bought by Rising Pune Supergiants for Rs. 14.5 Crore. Surprisingly Imran Tahir the best T20 player unsold for this season of IPL 2017.

5. Pat Cummins – Australia – (Delhi Daredevils): Rs 4.5 crore

The Australian Right-arm fast bowler, purchased by Delhi Daredevils(DD) franchise for 4.5 crore INR. He has represented Australia in 18 T20s and chipped in 23 wickets and in 28 ODIs took 51 wickets. . A Big Bash League player has ability to swing the ball late. He had represented Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) in last season of IPL.

4. Kagiso Rabada – South Africa – (Delhi Daredevils): Rs 5 crore

A young Right-arm fast bowler bought by Delhi Daredevils(DD) for 5 crore INR. He has represented cricket South Africa in 31 ODIs and 16 T20s and took attractive figure of 51 and 22 wickets. Also, has a outstanding figures in Test matches 63 wickets in just 14 matches!. He was highest wicket-taker in U-19 World Cup. A franchise expecting huge from him because he has ability to dismantle any batting line up.

3. Trent Boult – New Zealand – (Kolkata Knight Riders): Rs 5 crore

The Kiwi’s Left-arm fast-medium bowler.  The Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) picked up Trent Boult for a huge 5 crore INR. He already represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in last season of IPL. A 27 year old bowler represented for New Zealand 49 tests, 45 ODIs, 14 T20s with impressive 185, 85, 20 wickets respectively. He took 8 wickets in last season of IPL.

2. Tymal Mills – England – (Royal Challengers Bangalore): Rs 12 crore

A 24 year old English Left-arm fast-medium. Surprisingly , the bid of 12 crore INR by Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB). Because he has represented for cricket England in only 4 T20 matches and took 3 wickets. It was unbelievable bidding in IPL history. Now he has to show good performance in 10th edition of the IPL tournament.

1. Ben Stokes – England – (Rising Pune Supergiants): Rs 14.50 crore

A 25 year old Right-arm medium bowler, specially Bowling Allrounder. The Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) picked up all-rounder for a huge 14.50 crore INR .  Stokes played well at the recently concluded India-England series in 2016. Now he is ready to play under Steve Smith captaincy for RPS. He said, ” I’m excited to share dressing room with  MS dhoni and Steve Smith“.

(base price Rs 50 lakh or $74,650) – He is most unluckiest player during auction of VIVO IPL 2017. He is currently No. 1 rank T20 bowler. Unfortunately,  he is remain unsold during auction. An experienced 37 year old Right-arm legbreak bowler failed to impress franchises.

2. Irfan Pathan (India)

(base price of Rs 50 lakh or $74,650) – A left-arm pacer unpicked in IPL 2017 auction. Last Year , he represented for The Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) for only one match. Irfan Pathan is an experienced bowler represented for India in  120 ODIs and took 173 wickets.

3. Ishant Sharma (India)

(base price of Rs 2 crore or $298,842) – Already represented for India for many matches. He played 74 tests and took 215 wickets. Last year in VIVO IPL 2016 he represented for the Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). He was ignored by all franchises twice during auction.

4. Marlon Samuels (West Indies)

(base priced of Rs 1 crore or $1,49,300)- A Right Handed caribbean Batsman. A senior Player represented West Indies in 51 T20 matches. But no franchise shown interest to pick this batsman. A match winner known for special knock of 78 runs in finals of T20 world cup against Sri Lanka in 2012 and won T20 World Cup for West Indies in 2012.

5. Pragyan Ojha (India)

(base price of 30 lakh or $44,790)- Indian Left-arm bowler. He Last played for Mumbai Indians. But this time not picked up in VIVO IPL 2017 auction. He played 92 IPL matched and took 89 wickets. He had once been highest wicket-taker in one IPL edition.
